What to include when you write to us

You don't need to have a perfectly articulated question. Many of the best reader messages start with something like “my living room feels wrong but I can't say why” — and that's exactly the kind of puzzle we enjoy. If you can, include the approximate size of the room, which direction the windows face, and what's currently in the space. A phone photo is better than nothing. We'll read it and give you an honest first take. We're not an interior design firm and we don't offer paid consultations — but we do engage with reader questions in our articles, so your problem might shape a future guide. Messages are typically answered within three to five working days.
